I helped this weekend at the Special Olympics at the capitol. It was really awesome and fun…such a great experience. I had two really large observations:
1. Why cant we treat each other as well as we treat those with special needs?
That might sound weird, but hear me out. The caregivers and loved ones of special needs people treat those they care for with respect, love, and patience. Even when something goes wrong, they are treated with gentleness and kindness. Why can’t we treat everyone this way??? Despite the younger mentality of many, they were never treated like babies or little kids. Rather, they were encouraged to be courageous and confident.
It makes me think of the fruit of the Spirit…and that I can see this being lived out here. It’s so beautiful and inspiring.

2. Doesn’t it make you think we are all God’s special needs children?
Another odd statement…but taking into consideration all of the above, isn’t it true? He has eternal patience for us. Even when we don’t understand, he wants the best for us. I know it sounds goofy, but truth, man. Let’s work on having the mind of a servant, and the Fruit of the Spirit every single morning.
LOVE, JOY, PEACE, FORBEARANCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, AND SELF-CONTROL…
